Workplace bullying involves the deliberate, hurtful mistreatment of employees at work. Human Resources Magazine recently called it “one of the most insidious and destructive problems” in the American workplace. Whether through forms of loud and aggressive behavior, or more subtle methods of sabotaging one’s productivity, workplace bullying inflicts a costly toll on employees and employers alike.

Suffolk University Law School, in conjunction with the non-profit Campaign Against Workplace Bullying, is hosting the first university-sponsored conference on workplace bullying in the United States. This two-day conference will examine workplace bullying from the multiple perspectives of psychology, organizational behavior, human resources, law, and occupational health, and worker advocacy. Attendees will take from this conference a broad practical and theoretical understanding of this phenomenon and, where applicable, some ideas about how to respond to workplace bullying in their professional practices. As such, this conference will be particularly helpful to human resources directors, labor and employee advocates, employment lawyers and policy analysts, and mental health professionals, as well as academics who are involved in workplace issues.
