A group from Suffolk University Law School and lawyers from around the country visited Havana, Cuba from March 12-19 to learn about the Cuban Legal System which is based on the French/Roman system. Participants also learned about the cuban culture and their government.
The Union Nacional deJuristas presented lecturers by professors from the University of Havana as well as lawyers and judges. The discussions included topics on Cuba's constitution law, criminal penal system, civil system and legal education in Cuba. Participants also visited the largest law firm in Havana and the Bar Association in Matanzas and answered questions about the U.S. Legal System.
We invite you to participate in a discussion on the research done by the individuals who participated in this educational tour. Leading the discussion will be Massachusetts Superior Court Judge Isaac Borenstein and Professor Ilene Seidman, Associate Clinical Professor of Law at Suffolk Law School.
