Current Issues in Higher Education explores many of the cutting-edge legal and policy questions confronting higher education lawyers and administrators today. Every day the modern university is faced with a complex array of legal challenges. Increasingly, what were formerly considered to be solely policy choices by universities and their student, faculty, and staff constituencies are recognized to be nuanced legal decisions as well.

Attend and you will learn about liability issues relating to campus security and law enforcement; the legal and policy issues arising from disruptive and dangerous student behavior; the campus disciplinary system; and the responsibility of universities for student internships and study abroad. You will gain from a discussion of rapidly evolving areas in student accommodation law: mental health issues, eating disorders, and gender identity issues.

A lively examination of the many facets of faculty retirement policies will conclude the day’s program. Panelists include prominent higher education attorneys, both inside and outside of the university, as well as distinguished university administrators.

Attend this conference to explore the expanding legal dimensions of the American higher education system and leave with answers to many of the perplexing problems facing academia.
