Fundamentals of Collaborative Practice Skills: Resolving Conflict without Litigation is an interdisciplinary program for lawyers, financial advisors, mental health professionals and other interested professionals. It is an introduction to a growing and cutting edge area of dispute resolution.

Collaborative practice combines interest based negotiation with the added security of attorney advocacy and representation, without the threat of litigation. It incorporates creative analysis of the issues, the use of joint experts and informal team conferences with common goals of resolution in an atmosphere free of impending litigation. Collaborative practice gives you another tool for providing your clients with alternatives to litigation and opportunities to resolve conflicts with dignity and respect. This program incorporates demonstrations, PowerPoint presentations and “hands on” participation in a unique and rich environment for learning. After completing this training, you may qualify for membership in the Mass. Collaborative Law Council where there are many opportunities to further develop your collaborative skills through members’ meetings, networking, advanced trainings and practice groups.

  • How to resolve conflict more effectively
  • How to identify appropriate cases for collaborative process
  • How collaborative practice differs from both litigation and mediation but also how these processes can somtimes be integrated
  • “New” negotiation techniques
  • How a “team” approach to conflict resolution & develop skills to work within the “team” model with other professionals

Tuition:  

Tuition is $325; $285 for MCLC members, Suffolk alumni and attorneys admitted to the Bar after 2004. Course materials, continental breakfasts, lunch on day one and refreshments are included in the tuition.



Walk-Ins:  

Space is limited. Registrations at the door are welcome, but please register in advance to reserve a seat and your written course materials or call to confirm space availability.



Refunds:  

Written requests for cancellations received via fax or email 24 hours prior to the program will be granted a refund, minus a $15 charge. If you cannot attend, you may send a substitute, otherwise you will receive the written course materials.

Credit:  

Approved for CLE Credit for attorneys in RI, NH, VT & ME. CE Credits for Social Workers are pending. This program has been approved for 4 hours of credit by CFP Board and has been approved for 10.5 Social Worker Category I CE hours for relicensure. For other professionals, a CEU form will be provided so that you may apply for credits.
