ABOUT THE CONFERENCE Corporate Counsel face many challenges as both legal advisors and members of the business team. They grapple with the legal complexities arising from the realities of the competitive pressures of global markets and fast-changing technology. They deal with issues that keep lawyers awake at night. But unlike outside counsel, they also confront unique challenges in operating as company employees. Are they just obstacles to achieving desired business goals? Or does your business actively seek and rely on your counsel and your professional judgment? How does the company measure your success? What does the CEO expect and value in its legal partners?
Suffolk Law School’s first Corporate Counsel Institute: In-House from the Inside, offers a unique approach to respond to the educational and developmental needs of in-house counsel. Designed by and for corporate counsel, attendance will be limited to in-house attorneys to maximize the opportunity to discuss and share ideas with professional peers about legal and operating concerns. The Institute focuses on three aspects of the in-house world:
- The view from the C-suite on what constitutes the ideal legal business partner
- Current legal challenges facing in-house counsel (and best practices for solving these challenges)
- Strategies for the in-house lawyer on delivering the full value of the in-house legal team to the organization
Be privy to perspectives from senior executives on the role of in-house counsel, effective interactions between in-house counsel and company leaders, the skill sets required to be a successful in-house lawyer, and the ways in which in-house lawyers add value.
You will also hear from a distinguished group of general counsel on the “hot” legal issues confronting companies today. Join a discussion with a group of distinguished general counsel on strategies for the in-house lawyer on delivering full value to their companies. How can in-house counsel get and keep a “seat at the table,” manage conflict, deal with ethical issues, foster effective teamwork and communication, and empower junior in-house counsel?
WHO SHOULD ATTEND Although all in-house lawyers are invited to attend, the program will be particularly helpful to general counsel, associate general counsel, and other senior in-house counsel. Outside counsel are invited to attend the luncheon. Attendance at the Institute is limited to In-house Counsel. Outside counsel are invited to register for the networking lunch. to register for the lunch please click here.
