WASHINGTON DC SUMMER INTERNSHIP

APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Student arranges and has a personal meeting with Attorney Sawicki prior to application for an internship.

2.  During interview, internship options are narrowed and program resources are made available. Attorney Sawicki indicates which internships would be acceptable and which are appropriate for 2-5 credits. Students must be supervised by an Attorney in their Washington, DC area field placement.

3.  Student conducts additional research necessary to be a well-informed applicant for each internship.  Student applies for internship, interviews with potential supervisors, and selects internship.

4.  Student provides field supervisor with Field Supervisor Agreement Letter (available in application packet) confirming his/her participation in the Washington, DC Summer Internship Program.  Student and field supervisor agree upon weekly schedule and number of hours.

5.  Student submits completed Placement Approval Form, a signed copy of the Field Supervisor Agreement Letter, and a Conflict of Interest Form to the Internship Office for approval.  Attorney Sawicki reviews and considers approval and discusses with student accompanying class component, Legal Process and Practice Washington.  Attorney Sawicki signs Placement Approval Form permitting enrollment in the Washington, DCSummer Internship Program.

6.  Application Packets are available in the Internship Office, SGT 165. All forms discussed above are included in the application packet.
