Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, 1993- present; Vice-President, 1996-1999; Deputy Secretary General, 1993-1995. Judge, Constitutional Court of the Hungarian Republic 1998-2007. Member of the presidium of the Court of Arbitration of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry 2008- present. Arbitrator in cases at the International Court of Arbitration, International Chamber of Commerce (Paris). Member of the Governing Council of UNIDROIT     2004- present. President of the Social Science Committee of the Hungarian UNESCO Commission 1989-1998. Chairman of the Civil Law Codification Committee 1998-1999. Member, Advisory Group of the Council of Europe on Russian Law, 1993. Member, Advisory Group of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the Model Law on Secured Transactions 1993-1994. Lecturer in Law, Eötvös Loránd University 1958-1973, Reader, 1974-1981, Professor 1982-2007, Dean 1990-1993, Professor Emeritus 2007- present. Professor at the Central European University, Legal Studies Department (Budapest) (courses on Legal Foundations of Market Economy  and  Comparative East, Central European Private Law Systems), 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997.
