COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Biotech Patent Law

2 credits day; 2 credits evening.
Grading will be based upon weekly written assignments and class participation.
This seminar will explore the application of Patent Law to Biotechnology, one of the most exciting and rapidly developing areas of Intellectual Property protection. Important case law decisions relating to Biotechnology will be studied and discussed. Topics which will be explored in regard to Biotechnology include: conception and reduction to practice of an invention; written description, enablement and best mode requirements; analysis of prior art; prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; patent infringement; doctrine of equivalents; collaborative research and development agreements; duty of disclosure; and interviewing an inventor.
Prerequisite: Patent Law, which may be taken concurrently, or patent law experience Enrollment
