Soon after the Internet was born, commercial enterprises discovered its potential for new business ventures and online versions of their existing businesses. This course will address legal issues arising from the widespread use of electronic communication and Internet-based sales systems, including the following subjects: Click-through contracts and e-signatures, electronic payments and lending, consumer rights in personal information, electronic evidence, taxation of online economic activity, e-commerce and software patents, regulatory paradigms in cyberspace, and cross-border dispute resolution for e-commerce.
