COURSE DESCRIPTIONS


Women's Health Law & Policy Seminar
Prof. Sarah Boonin
2 credits day; 2 credits evening.

This course will survey selected topics in women's health law and policy in the U.S., tracing the life cycle of women's interaction with the healthcare system: from the regulation of reproductive and sexual health, to laws governing maternity care and family health, to mental health coverage and coverage of "women's" diseases, to legal issues in care-giving and elder care. This seminar will also explore disparities in healthcare, including racial disparities and disparities in care for lesbian, gay and transgender communities. This seminar will be limited to 20 students. Students will be graded based on class participation and one research paper (20-25 pages on a legal and/or policy issue chosen by the student and approved by Professor.

  Meets Health/Biomedical Concentration Requirements

  Final Paper Required
