HOW TO APPLY

The application is available electronically through the LSAC. Applicants are required to:
  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university prior to entering law school
  • Have taken the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) within the past five years
  • Register with the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC) Credential Assembly Service (CAS)
In addition, you must submit:
  • The completed and signed application for admission

  • One letter of recommendation. A recommendation should come from a college professor if you have graduated from college within the past three years. If you have been out of school longer than three years, your recommendation may come from a professional source.

Your recommendation must be submitted through the Credential Assembly Service (CAS). The letter of recommendation service is included in your CAS registration subscription. The letter will be copied and sent along with your CAS report. Be sure to fill out and give each letter writer a letter of recommendation form.

  • A personal statement. We are interested particularly in learning about your motivation and preparation for the study of law as well as any circumstances that you believe are relevant to the evaluation of your credentials. You may submit supplementary information to explain any unusual circumstances with your application.

  • The $60 non-refundable application fee. Only checks or money orders payable to Suffolk University are acceptable. Current college students who want to apply for a waiver of this fee must include a letter from their college or university financial aid officer outlining any financial aid awarded during college with their application. Non-students applying for a waiver of the fee must document their request and submit it with their application.

  • Official transcripts of all collegiate, graduate and professional study must be sent directly to the CAS. Once CAS has received transcripts and LSAT scores, the CAS can generate a report when we request one.
