Carter G. Bishop
Professor of Law

 S H O R T   B I O G R A P H Y

Professor of Law at the Suffolk University Law School (1995-present). Professor Bishop came to Suffolk University Law School from the William Mitchell College of Law in Minnesota where he was a Professor of Law and the Founding Director of its Graduate Tax Program (1984-1995). He has been a Visiting Professor of Law or Distinguished Visiting Scholar at several other law schools including Catholic University Columbus School of Law (Spring 2008), University of Baltimore School of Law (2007-2008), George Washington University Law School (2005-2006), the American University Washington College of Law (2003-2004), the University of San Diego School of Law (Summer 1999 & 2005); Northeastern University School of Law (Spring 1999 & 2003), and the Washington & Lee University School of Law (Fall 2000). Professor Bishop has served as a National Law Reporter for three Uniform Law Projects including the Uniform Limited Liability Company Act (1995), the Limited Liability Partnership Amendments to the Revised Uniform Partnership Act (1997), and the Revised Uniform Limited Liability Company Act (2006). On these topics, he is a co-author of a leading two-volume scholarly treatise Limited Liability Companies: Tax & Business Law (WG&L, Updated Semimonthly). Professor Bishop served as a law clerk to the Honorable Darrell D. Wiles of the United States Tax Court in Washington, DC (1977-1979). He was a partner at the Minnesota law firm of Doherty, Rumble & Butler (1979-1984) prior to beginning his teaching career.
