Ellen J. Zucker is a partner at the Boston law firm of Burns & Levinson. Ms. Zucker’s practice focuses in the areas of employment law and criminal defense. She has represented a range of plaintiffs in discrimination cases - from construction workers and nurses to high-level executives, attorneys, and physicians - and has been part of criminal defense teams successfully representing individuals accused of white-collar crime, arson, and homicide. Ms. Zucker graduated with Honors from Wesleyan University, earned her Masters degree in Political Philosophy from the London School of Economics and Political Science and received her law degree from Boston College Law School. Following law school graduation, Ms. Zucker was a law clerk for Judge Nancy Gertner of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
Ms. Zucker serves on the Board of Directors of both the Women's Bar Association of Massachusetts and Ms. MassEquality.Org, the coalition organization spearheading efforts to protect equal marriage rights in Massachusetts. She also serves on the screening committee for the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union and was local president of the National Organization for Women (NOW), as well as Northeast Regional Director of NOW's National Board of Directors. Ms. Zucker is a frequent commentator on issues relating to employment law and civil rights, and has participated in seminars sponsored by the Boston Bar Association and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. Before becoming an attorney, Ms. Zucker taught high school English and Philosophy.
