SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY
MOOT COURT HONOR BOARD
Suffolk Journal of Trial & Appellate Advocacy

-20120308-200

Suffolk University Law School has a long tradition of training many of the finest litigation and appellate advocates in the state.  This accomplishment is due in no small part to the effort and dedication of the Moot Court Honor Board.  In conjunction with the law school faculty, local attorneys and members of the Massachusetts Judiciary, the Moot Court Honor Board provides students the opportunity to develop and hone their advocacy skills prior to entering the legal community.

The Moot Court Honor Board serves in two distinct capacities.  First, the Moot Court Honor Board organizes and manages four intra-scholastic competitions (two trial and two appellate) over the course of the academic year.  The competitions are carefully designed in order to create the most realistic experience possible.  The Board relies upon members of the judiciary and prominent practitioners to serve as judges for every round of each competition.

Secondly, the Moot Court Honor Bard publishes the Suffolk Journal of Trial & Appellate Advocacy twice a year.  The Suffolk Journal of Trial & Appellate Advocacy provides practical and in-depth analyses of current legal issues relating to trial and appellate practice.  The Journal consists of lead articles submitted by outside authors with expertise in their respective fields, and student-written Notes and Case Comments submitted by MCHB staff members.  Journal members select a unique topic, research primary and secondary legal sources, analyze the legal issues facing the trial and appellate advocacy community, and write an original piece for publication.

This dual-function of the Board, balancing competitions and written work, truly makes the Suffolk University Moot Court Honor Board unique.
