- The U.S. Copyright Act - Title 17
- Current as of 1/5/1999 - includes the Digital Millenium Copyright Act.
- Collection of IP Laws
- At the WIPO, a searchable electronic collection of laws from 35 countries and European Communities, and the texts of all WIPO treaties.
- Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works
- From the Legal Information Institute. The U.S. became a member of the Berne Convention in 1989.
- Universal Copyright Convention
- From Tufts University.
- The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT)
- Also from Cornell - including international trade aspects of IP.
- Guide to Judicial and Administrative IP Decisions
- A very good guide to finding administrative and judicial decisions. It gives a good overview of where documents are published, but it is a bit dated - for example, BPAI & PTO Commissioner decisions are now available free on the internet, but this is not indicated on the guide.

- U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
- The federal agency that controls the issuance of patents and trademarks. Excellent database page, including the Manual of Classification Index, and the Manual of Patent Examining Procedure .
- U.S. Copyright Office
- From The Library of Congress. Lots of good stuff here, including info. on copyright requests, licensing, and FOIA requests. See
their page of copyright circulars for good overviews of many aspects of copyright law.
