Exception to the policy on Visiting Out, Study Abroad and Electives at Non-Suffolk Programs under which you wish to obtain permission to attend this program:
This is a summer (or winter session) program for which I wish to transfer four credits (or less) to Suffolk.
I believe I meet the hardship standard outlined in the policy on Visiting Out, Study Abroad and Electives at Non-Suffolk Programs - please attach a written description of your hardship and supporting documentation.     THE PROCESS
 
    STEP ONE: Letter of Good Standing/Permission to Attend

    STEP TWO: Course Approval

All courses must be PRE-APPROVED. Course descriptions should be submitted to the Dean of Students Office as for approval. Please include your name and ID# on all submissions. Course descriptions deadlines are as follows (course descriptions submitted after the deadline will be reviewed only in extraordinary circumstances):

  • May 1 for summer visits
  • July 15 for fall semester visits
  • November 30 for spring semester visits and visits to winter sessions
Other Important Information to note if you are approved for this visit out:
  • Suffolk credits will be awarded for only those courses in which you receive a 2.00 on a 4.00 scale or its equivalent.
  • Though credit may be accepted, no grades received at another law school will factor into your Suffolk grade point average.
  • You will be prohibited from taking any future Suffolk University Law School class that overlaps significantly with one or more of the classes taken during the non-SULS program.
  • Students must be a student in good standing at the time of attendance of the program.
  • Special courses such as internships, externships and directed studies will only be approved in limited circumstances.
  • All programs must be ABA-approved.
  • Students are advised to determine the financial aid implications of participation as soon as possible.
  • Students who are transferring between the day and evening divisions are strongly encouraged to meet with Assistant Dean and Registrar Lorraine Cove before committing to a non-Suffolk program to determine if the non-Suffolk program will have implications for the division transfer.
  • If you are approved to visit for more than four credits under the hardship exception, the amount of credits you take per semester may not exceed, nor be less than, the amount of credits you would be required to take if attending Suffolk University Law School. Please see: Suffolk University Law School Rules and Regulations II.A. Academic Standards, Course Loads.
  • Additional deadlines, course load limitations, fees and other requirements may apply depending on the nature of the program. In addition, the law school reserves the right to alter the policies and information contained in this document at any time.
